The Complete Token-mon Type Guide: All 6 Metal Types Explained

Token-mon's 6 metal types are not just cosmetic labels. Each type provides a passive bonus that is always active, an active ability usable once per battle, and scaling support bonuses that get stronger as your Token-mon levels up. Understanding these types is the difference between struggling against bosses and dominating them.

This guide covers every type's mechanics, best use cases, and specific team compositions for each boss fight.

Iron Type — The Attack Amplifier

Passive: Forge Strike (+15% attack damage)

Iron types hit harder than any other type at equal levels. A 15% attack boost applies to every damage-dealing spin, making Iron the go-to type for players who want to end fights fast.

Active Ability — Iron Wall: Gain a shield equal to 30% of your max HP. This turns an offensive powerhouse into a temporary tank, perfect for surviving a boss's burst phase.

Support Scaling: Iron supports boost the Main fighter's attack from +8% (Novice, L1-5) up to +22% (Master, L50+). A high-level Iron support behind a Gold Main creates devastating damage output.

Best As: Main fighter against bosses with low defense (Vex, Copper Kate). Support behind Gold or Chrome Mains that need more raw power.

Key Token-mon: Scrapheap (Rusty Pete's signature), Ironclad (pure tank), Magnetron (legendary)

Copper Type — The Energy Engine

Passive: Circuit Surge (+1 energy per turn)

Copper is the most consistently valuable type in the game. Energy is the fundamental resource — you need it to spin, and when you run out, you are helpless. Copper types passively regenerate 1 energy per turn, which means more spins, more actions, and more chances for triple matches.

Active Ability — Power Surge: Instantly gain +3 energy. Combined with the passive regeneration, this can give you a full energy bar when you need it most.

Support Scaling: Copper supports provide +1 energy per turn at all levels, jumping to +2 at Master tier. This stacks with a Copper Main's own regeneration, creating a team that never runs dry.

Best As: Main fighter for sustained battles against tanky bosses (Rusty Pete, Sterling Silva). Support behind any Main — energy is universally useful. All three starter Token-mon are Copper type for exactly this reason.

Key Token-mon: Voltwire/Copperion/Spark-Wire (starters), Motherboard (Copper Kate's signature), Voltempror (legendary evolution)

Silver Type — The Healing Sustainer

Passive: Refined Aura (+25% healing effectiveness)

Silver types turn every Heal symbol on the reels into a serious recovery. A triple Heal match on a Silver type heals a massive 33% of max HP — boosted by the 25% passive, that becomes over 40% effective healing. In long fights, Silver types outlast everything.

Active Ability — Healing Light: Heal 25% of max HP instantly. This is your emergency button — pop it when you are low and a bad spin could end the fight.

Support Scaling: Silver supports boost healing from +12% (Novice) to +38% (Master). A high-level Silver support behind an Iron Main creates a fighter that hits hard and heals big.

Best As: Main fighter against aggressive bosses that deal heavy sustained damage (Golden Gus, De-Troyer). Support behind tanky Mains that need to survive long battles.

Key Token-mon: Lunar-Wraith (Silver Sage's legendary), Quicksilver (legendary speed healer), Nobelynx (evolved powerhouse)

Gold Type — The Critical Striker

Passive: Fortune's Favor (+20% critical hit chance)

Gold types gamble on big hits. A 20% crit chance means roughly one in five attacks deals 1.5x damage. Stack this with Gold supports and the crit chance climbs toward the 80% cap — at that point, nearly every hit is a crit, and triple matches with guaranteed crits become absolutely devastating.

Active Ability — Fortune Strike: Your next spin is a guaranteed critical hit. Save this for a turn where you have enough energy for a high-cost spin with good match odds.

Support Scaling: Gold supports add +10% (Novice) to +28% (Master) crit chance. Multiple Gold supports can push crit chance to the cap, creating a team built around explosive burst damage.

Best As: Main fighter for "burst down" strategies against bosses you want to kill fast before they overwhelm you. Support behind Iron or Titanium Mains for massive crit damage.

Key Token-mon: Emperor-Aurum (Golden Gus's legendary), Scarabolt (gold scarab), Voltking (Copper Kate's legendary)

Chrome Type — The Damage Reflector

Passive: Mirror Shield (10% damage reflection)

Chrome types punish opponents for attacking. 10% of all incoming damage is reflected back, which means aggressive bosses effectively damage themselves. Against high-damage bosses like De-Troyer, reflected damage adds up significantly over a long fight.

Active Ability — Mirror Barrier: Reflect 50% of the next incoming hit. Time this against a boss's big attack and you turn their strongest move against them.

Support Scaling: Chrome supports add +5% (Novice) to +16% (Master) reflection, capped at 50% total. A full Chrome team can reflect half of all incoming damage — the boss fights itself.

Best As: Main fighter against bosses that hit hard and frequently (Chrome Guardian, De-Troyer). Support behind tanky Iron or Silver Mains to add passive punishment.

Key Token-mon: Chromeheart (Chrome Guardian's legendary), Spectralord (ultimate Chromling evolution), Data-Phantom (Vex's signature)

Titanium Type — The Universal Amplifier

Passive: Ultimate Alloy (+5% to all damage, healing, and crit)

Titanium does everything a little better. The +5% is modest compared to specialized types, but it applies to every action — damage, healing, critical hits. It stacks multiplicatively with other bonuses, meaning Titanium supports amplify whatever strategy your Main is already running.

Active Ability — Titan's Might: +30% match chance on your next spin. This is the most consistent active ability — it does not buff damage or healing, it buffs the spin itself, making a double or triple match dramatically more likely.

Support Scaling: Titanium supports add +2% (Novice) to +9% (Master) to all stats. Small numbers, but multiplicative stacking means they amplify every other bonus on your team.

Best As: Endgame flex slot. Titanium Token-mon are rare and powerful but hard to obtain. Use as support behind any specialized Main to amplify their strengths. Titanium Mains are viable endgame with enough raw stats to brute-force most encounters.

Key Token-mon: Titanmaster (De-Troyer's signature), Titan-Forge (legendary), Apex-Guardian (ultimate tank)

Boss-Specific Team Recommendations

Rusty Pete (Level 20, Iron)

Recommended: Copper Main + Copper/Silver supports. Pete is tanky — you need sustained energy to keep spinning and healing to survive his heavy Iron hits.

Vex (Level 22, Chrome)

Recommended: Iron Main + Copper support. Vex is fragile but unpredictable. Hit hard and fast before the glitch effects accumulate.

Copper Kate (Level 25, Copper)

Recommended: Gold Main + Iron/Copper supports. Kate outlasts you with energy sustain, so burst her down with crits before she grinds you out.

Sterling Silva (Level 28, Gold)

Recommended: Silver Main + Copper/Iron supports. Silva hits hard with Gold crits. Outheal his damage and grind him down patiently.

Golden Gus (Level 30, Gold)

Recommended: Iron Main + Silver/Copper supports. Gus rigs his spins, so you need to survive his boosted triples and heal through them.

Chrome Guardian (Level 32, Chrome)

Recommended: Gold Main + Titanium/Copper supports. The Guardian reflects damage, so you need to overwhelm it with burst crits before reflection chips you down.

Silver Sage (Level 35, Silver)

Recommended: Iron Main + Gold/Copper supports. Sage heals heavily — you need raw damage and crits to out-damage the healing.

De-Troyer (Level 40, Titanium)

Recommended: Your strongest Main + full diverse supports. De-Troyer has 4 Titanmasters. Bring your best team with balanced type coverage. Copper for energy, Silver for healing, Gold or Iron for damage.

The Golden Rule of Team Building

Always have a Copper support. Energy is the most important resource in the game, and running out of energy means you cannot spin, which means you cannot do anything. Every other type bonus is secondary to having enough energy to keep playing.

After Copper, choose your remaining supports based on your strategy: Silver for survival, Gold for burst, Iron for raw power, Chrome for reflection, Titanium for amplification.
